Kaoru made more than forty woodblock prints of flowers and (or) birds during the 1950s and early 1960s. He used a set of intersecting, curvilinear shapes to depict his subjects in a highly creative way. This gallery provides ten examples, focusing on two of his favorite birds – the red-crowned crane and the scops owl. Click on a picture to enlarge it. To see more prints by Kaoru click here.
